The issue of the prison sentence against Datuk Seri Najib Razak, which was made in a hurry, invited various speculations among the people. Some UMNO leaders also voiced their annoyance regarding the matter since Datuk Seri Najib was seen as not getting a fair trial.
UMNO Supreme Working Council (MKT) member, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman loudly voiced her surprise at the decision of the Federal Court that did not allow a change of lawyer and adjournment in the case of former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak to allow justice to proceed properly for the SRC International case.
Divisional UMNO leaders wanted to know why Najib was imprisoned in a controversial situation and denied his right to a fair trial. In this matter, they questioned the failure of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri to ensure a fair trial.
A very significant weakness occurred in Najib’s SRC trial. Why is Ismail Sabri not helping to uphold justice. Divisional UMNO leaders also questioned why Judge Nazlan has not been prosecuted when the case has a very solid foundation.
Apart from that, they also questioned why Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Nor Mohamed Yakcop and Tawfiq Ayman are not brought to justice.
The government is also questioned as to why it did not drop selective prosecutions made when Pakatan Harapan (PH) was in power.
Divisional UMNO leaders also want to know the position of the “poster boy” whether it is still relevant or not since they see Ismail Sabri failing to ensure a fair trial for Najib.
Now UMNO leaders want to know what the party’s strategy is to calm the anger of Najib’s supporters against Ismail Sabri and the government.
Any answer that is seen as trying to fool UMNO members will not be accepted. They know Najib just wants a fair trial. Ismail Sabri failed to confirm the matter.
Legal process is about justice. This means that justice is giving everything that we want to bring. Even in Islam, a person cannot be considered guilty until all the evidence that he is guilty is sufficient.
Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, Tan Sri Shafee as lawyers have tried their best to bring evidence. However, the Federal Court’s decision not to allow a change of lawyer and adjournment in Najib’s trial case to allow justice to proceed properly for the SRC International case invites speculation that there is an unseen hand that wants to imprison Najib.
